Synthesizers reached their apex when Ferris Bueller used an E-mu Emulator II to take a “me-day,” but Zach Lieberman’s installation Play the World has managed to make electronic keyboards cool again—and a little mind-blowing. This was a great evening. Never thought I would see Tinariwen in Connecticut and to have the opportunity to capture some of the concert on video. It was somewhat surreal.
Had the pleasure of attending a beautiful concert by Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble Wednesday evening at Carnegie Hall in NYC. So great to hear Kinan Azmeh (left) from Syria and Kayhan Kalhor (center) from Iran, two of my favorite musicians, along Wu Man (right) from China and all of the other musicians.
Looking forward to seeing Kayhan with The Silk Road Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in NYC on October 16.
